Border Zone

Overview

Border Zone is a location-based AR game set in Park Babelsberg. While the park was originally created for the Emperor William I, who sometimes stayed in the castle that is surrounded by the park, it is also a more recent historical site. During the division of Germany, border fortifications were built inside the park.

The goal of Border Zone is to bring to life the era and its stories and educate players about it. In order to achieve this, players get to experience the stories of characters that are based on contemporary witness reports.

By using augmented reality and positioning services, content is directly linked to locations in the park and allow for a great sense of immersion.

The project was realized in collaboration by Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg and Cologne Game Lab.
